Glima is a Scandinavian martial arts system used by the fearless Vikings. Strength wasn't the only way to dominate your opponent even though the Vikings were famous for their strength and brute force. ... The word Glima has the meaning, flash or glimpse.
Glima is the name that covers several types of Nordic folk wrestling practiced as sport and combat. In one common form of glima, players grip their opponent by the waist and attempt to throw them to the ground using technique rather than force. Other variants allow for more aggression.

Re: Viking martial arts : Glima
Or just add melee armor instead of Health ?
A fist would be a great tech Icon.
I'll try to make one if this is a good idea.

Re: Viking martial arts : Glima
Should I make the bonus stats the same as Tattoos and War paint?
I think itl be too op since the nords are strong itslef so I made it stay at 10% = +2HP
Any thoughts ?

Re: Viking martial arts : Glima
All nordic units were balanced on having the benefits of blacksmith upgrades.
Tatoos was technology added as a recompensation of not having blacksmith bonuses.
War paint had similar purpose - partial recompensation of not all units having blacksmith bonuses or having slightly weaker stats.
Currently adding benefits of such tech to nordic units would create imbalance.
Besides martial arts is not much of a civilisation technology - there are no known martial arts in the whole history, which helped in any way to win the wars. Because all nations/cultures/groups had their fighting style. Most never named it, never classified it. Yet some were known to be powerful warriors with better fighting capabilities than others without any historical name of their "martial arts".
Glima itself just takes pride of being something, that has historical proof of being used in medieval times.
But similarily - the same could be said to schools of weapon mastery from german and italian masters.
Probably all the nations had it, but no historical evidence is left.
I just feel like when adding it to one culture - all the others would have to have something similar and equal in balance.
