The trebuchet in this new version with the transformation it has and it's 6 turn cost, it doesn't seem flexible for the users to use it. Plus, to set it up you will need +1 turn when from factory.
Now, my suggestion is to make the trebuchet 1 turn less cost as it has now. Since castles have longer turn build rate than others, this would be a good idea.

1. Now trebuchet is also constructible by workers so you can produce more and faster than rock hurlers or ent demolishers;
2. Trebuchet has higher range than catapult still and better damage to single target;
3. Trebuchet in future will get 3 tiers (as well as catapult, ballista, battering ram) and will achieve range 12 (as rock hurler). Images are ready, we are only thinking about final stats for all mentioned units (as well as for human naval fleet).

That is not a joke anymore.
Trebuchet stats are defined (exept hp and armor).
It will have 11/12/13 attack +2 from techs and 10 range +2 from techs.
Images for human naval fleet is ready as well (and for their upgrades).
Only we need to define stats for them (both siege and ships).

I am currently working on their jsons
the new techs in game (that aren't working yet) are used for all siege and ship units (we made all mechanicals share most of techs)
