Re: Knight Mercenary
I'm not too impressed by the idea of needing to upkeep my troops. I'd rather just go with imperial knights or Drake knights, neither of which need upkeep.

Re: Knight Mercenary
Cost 3 is more reasonable, and to make this unit useful money couriers shouldnt dissapear after giving money

I think money courier isn't a bad idea, but it should start with at least 5 turns before leaving

I'm not much into units that need a continous upkeep (on the long run they are always worse). Also it should be really strong compared to unit with the same cost.

Re: Knight of Bronze
That's what I was saying. Sometimes it's okay if you expect it to do its job and die before it gets paid, it's alright. Heh, exactly how mercs usually were dealt with, sending them to suicidal missions with the promise of high pay, in the hopes they will do a lot of damage but die before they can collect. Still, I prefer to think most of my troops, disregarding basic melee, have a good chance of survival if I'm careful. Paying repeatedly to keep one I might as well just make new troops to replace it. Try this.
Cost 10
Hp: 80
Power: 7
Spell resistance: 50%
Armor: 15/7
Speed: 3
No upkeep, built at castle only.
This version can tank ettins, orc kings, dragons, etc. His pierce armor is lower than his melee armor, but it's still rather high. He is mounted, but even the strongest horse would collapse under the weight of his armor, so it's probably not a horse. He isn't going to do much damage, but a priest or two and he can close up a choke point with ease. Because he's so physically resilient, his magic resistance is only 50%. This means you can work him down with curse, disarmor, etc. Otherwise, make him a pincushion of arrows or a punching bag for 2-3 cave trolls/orc kings. Or rain boulders on him with siege weapons like you would any other wall. Beyond that, he's obviously assassin bait.

Re: Knight of Bronze
I think the cost of ten would be too expensive for a a low cavalry unit, with almost no ability to cause any damage.

Re: Knight of Bronze
But his role is to be a walking wall, and i agree the cost needs to be lower, lets say 8 or 9

Re: Knight of Bronze
I think that the imperial knight is enough of a walking wall right away xD
I think we should give him a lower cost and some specific bonus (for example a bonus against giants and ents or simply a good armor and evasion values).
Also the name doesn't say nothing particular about the unit, and generally tank units are infantryman with big shields (so different from the current image).

Re: Knight of Bronze
Can we have this as a campaign unit? It would fit nicely in my campaign. A mercenary Knight who travel in bronze.

Re: Knight of Bronze
Just have to version for him, one when he's riding his bronze horse, the other when he's on foot.

Re: Knight of Bronze
Ahh, I know. He should have to transformation thingy, when he transform to become a foot soldier he splits into two. His horse and him, and when he wants to become a horseman again, he need to be adjacent to his steed. but if his steed dies, he will stay as a foot soldier.
