Guys looks like work was stopped. I do this second time, so L4cus could you post Spanish and English units stats (and help with .json (information how work with 64×128 ), drejedan and squirrel5555 could you post new pictures of units and also post units descriptions.

Are we able to make 128x64 sprites for some units.
The bayonet amd the musket is a long combination son it uses to exeed the determined space

I'm not sure but I think what he means is the sides not the top. If an image can be more than 64 px in length not the height.

Exactly, the v2 image is 64x128. I mean 128x64
Like tiger tank at age of strategy (the cannon overlaps the right or the left side)

in general not good as overlapping will not work nice in some cases (eg. if the gun barrel goes tru the 64 px: one case the gun can go behind another unit beside this, other case will appear over it.

so strongly un-advised to do it.

however it will not make the game crash, in aow we have 2-3 extra tanks that had to exceed the 64px in horizontal - but again: not advised.


so if u need to you nee to ldo it VERY rarely (so not on mayority of units, but only one or two) and never overlap up to 128 only maximum 70-72px

my genral suggestions if we talk about human units:
a) use the 3 unit squad appearance like in AOW(see attached image) - worked well as the tanks are much bigger in real life so looks better a smaller soldier figure than a man having almost a tank size.
b) or use smaller unit images (that will never exceed 64 px)


i recommend "a" as i think you will also need some big war machines/cannons that should look good beside soldiers. (also ships needs to be in 64px, those will look better with smaller soldier figures)

Oo i actually like that idea, have mutliple soldiers in one image, would loook better with the cannons as some will have to be horse drawn, and it would be a struggle to make the calibres look different in the scale we use right now.

But that will be a lot of work lol

sorry if i was addressed the question and was not answered back then.

however: not necessarily 3 units. can be one - but much smaller to have space for bigger mechanical and such units.

Im not sure, the period in this game, battle lines were tightly packed, if they are small and only one in each tile they will look very spaced out, maybe better with multiple per tile. That would be fine for irregualrs but im not sure for line infantry

For line infantry its still possible, sticking resized units to look like a line formation maybe with 4 units per tile
Since light infantry used spray formation only 3 units pdr tile is ok
I like resizing idea, it will be very helpfull for drawig and looking. Also, units will be smaller than a cog (previously not)

i use Gimp, and when i say layer/scale there is a lookup where i can selecvt filtering for scaling (how pixels are calculated with sorrounding pixels), it can be cubic, nofilter, linear, and some other.
try all.

When i try to atach the screenshot jumps a mesage sayong its too large.
Also, i got a problem trying to put the new images(the small versions) at map editor
