Polishable unit images in AOS
Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
You are right about holding. i'll put their right hands in front of weapon.
Whar do You mean by bent stalk? The leftmost part (from loker perspective) of arbalest weapon?

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
Btw. I slightly changed the images and put it in pack.
Soldier was shortened again - sorry @Belosteel - he just looked a too big among others. Also added a litlle more visible team coloring.
Spanish rodelero was put without changes

Dont add rgb colors to the units of saint john.
They are meant for map editor only

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
So what?
I can easily imagine scenario in which team coloring could be used.
Besides both halbeldier and soldier already had team coloring. It's just knight lacking it.

Well I still disagree, maybe add a plu on the soldiers helmet, otherwhise he would have colored feet and hands

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
OMG please implement the improved archer upgrade images from Endru, they are so good
Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
Hi,
@Endru1241 You cant do that like that.
We need that 1 pixel wide clean black border around objects so they dont clash or mix with background tiles.
You cant just remove i cuas some old tiles stil have it wrongly.

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
Hi,
@knight1111 rather not. the image has plently of errors and faults.
Random differently colored pixel no proper black outline and bassic color and shading mistakes.
i corrected some and changed the crossbow to be more 'realistic'.
(i maybe made it a bit too small now)

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
I actually put in game image with black outlines. It looked out of place. Every other tower has no outline, so I tried removing it - suddenly it looks like part of the set (only better shaded).
I am thankful for wielder shading (I didn't do anything at all to basic archer - just copy-pasted him armor from longbow upgrade, so the same can be used to improve archer image).
But this weapon doesn't look more realistic - it has no perspective.
I designed arbalest weapon based on some real image (bare weapon in attachment).
I just made it a little too big.
Also - why did You shorten his armor?

wouldn't the viking berserk also need a redesign? He's way to big compared to other units and looks so out of place. Is the size intendet?

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
realistic ment size. crossbows are actually mostly pretty small. there were some bigger ones aswell but i would save big crossbows for the upgraded corssbowman.I am thankful for wielder shading (I didn't do anything at all to basic archer - just copy-pasted him armor from longbow upgrade, so the same can be used to improve archer image).

it has perspective it just was hold in the same angle as your crossbow. but i changed it a bit now.
it shouldve been armor? well it was clearly too long for cloth and made the legs wayy to short. Also - why did You shorten his armor?

@StormSaint373 while this crossbow looks good, using this would mean changing whole unit position.
@patroid I used Your image and made changes to crossbow perspective. Upgraded one has mine.

Perhaps, I can edit...
Tunic looks too small . . . And flat.
I'll try to use my design, just at a different angle

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
There is still 3 mounted units left. If we would replace images to so much different ones - it has to as a set.
On the images - they look good - they postures are great. One little thing could be improved though - their arms are a little too long (were they shortened from 34-35 pixels height characters maybe?). It's mostly visible in halbeldier (I give his image improved as an example - set his right hand with halberd 2pixels up, 1 pixel to the right, left hand was shortened 1 pixel, changed shadow to little more natural looking, removed some pixels between his legs)
And a question - why beige instead of regular commonly used to depict crusaders white?

Re: Polishable unit images in AOS
Erm, @Endru1241 , the pixels between the legs was the back part of the chain mail hauberk.
White is typically used to depict knights Templar...
The beige I thought was tan.
To show the dirt and sand that stained the cloth. And so it would set them apar from Templars, Hospitallers, and the knights of St John.
