Monster slayer (witcher/hexer style)
We can't call it witcher since is copyrighted but i'd like a melee unit with a specific set of skills to fight monsters (we should define what is a "monster" xD).
It might have 2 stances
Steel sword (to fight humans)
Silver sword (extra damage to monsters but almost no damage to humans)
It should have different kind of potions and some spells (if you played the game it has signs that can be changed into existing spells) but we might simply add high cooldown for them.
Since witchers have superhuman reflexes they might have some dodge (or some spell/potion to gain dodge)
Since seems a pretty strong concept (which might not be entirely fit a strategy game) we might nerf it with some downsides (e.g. the toxicity effect might simply result in loosing hp or having a permanent poison effect while under the effect of a potion)
Before going on i'd like to have your opinion

Re: Monster slayer (witcher/hexer style)
It is a very good concept for a fantasy setting.
Don't want them having a steel sword since they are more aligned with humans, and I don't really see them trying to fight against a witcher unless it were the videogame. It might make hard to implement to have 2 stances like the ranger. (How is that one coming along?)
In human versus human, it might be used for tank role because of it's potions and dodge instead. That way we still have the fantasy units in use.

It isn't difficult to change stance. It is basically a transformation like the centaur. I would simply try 2 images with a different sword in hand and (maybe) a different stance.

Re: Monster slayer (witcher/hexer style)
Giving the monster slayer a permanent poison effect for each potion is a little insane. Just give the unit debuffs that last as long as the effect or cooldown last.
Instead of using the poison effect we might come up with different negative effects like slowing down the user. They could be after effects as well, so the player could retreat them strategically.

In Witcher using iron sword to fight humans and silver to fight monsters wasnt true, witchers has two swords becouse some monsters are sensitive for siver, other for iron.
Just noticing.

Is it possible for you to list the monsters with the weakness to iron, and another for those sensitive to silver.Midonik wrote:In Witcher using iron sword to fight humans and silver to fight monsters wasnt true, witchers has two swords becouse some monsters are sensitive for siver, other for iron.

Silver needs a higher bonus, while iron has greater base damage.
To be honest the current name, "Monster Slayer" is fine.MightyGuy wrote:how about the name could be beast slayer.... or Slayer...

Not really,Im almost sure that there were just said that some are for iron and some for silver. No examples etc. But hey! this unit is not witcher, its a monster slayer,so we can just make him having silver sword against monsters and iron... rather steel sword against mens.

It doesn't seem like we got another option than make up our own list of sensitive monsters.
Steel swords shouldn't be too effective at killing humans, else it would be like a superhero. It will have higher base damage just to compete with other units of the same cost.

I find this to be an interesting concept.

A suggestion... Maybe the monster Slayer can be made good vs Orcs, since it is essentially a monster race.
