Genoese crossbowman - IMPLEMENTED

A national unit
Variant 1
turns to train: 3-4
has more damage than crossbowman
has high pierce armor, around 10
Normal armour is medium 2-4
can attack every second turn,
Can't move/attack after attack
maybe separate tech for it's training (like mercenary crossbowmans)
Effective against heavily armoured enemies
Another idea:
Variant 2
Has less damage than archers, but attack completely ignore armour and deal directly damage
all other stats are same

Sounds good, but OP to the normal crossbow.
This was posted before he edited it - it looks good now.

Wait, so you get the crossbow uphrade and it unlocks a super op unit as well that takes just as long to build? Sorry but I do not like this idea at all -1

Some suggestions to make it less op:
1. It should be a seperate unit nit an upgrade for a crossbow archer
2. Make it have less armour (maybe 2 pierce armor and 1 armor)
3. Increase cost to 4

Then it becomes very similar to roman sagittauri

But otherwise it defeats the entire purpose of crossbowmen...

Sorry. Left out, that it can only shoot once every second turn. And after shooting it will be reloading and unable to move or attack

Genoese Crossbowman

by DoomCarrot
History: The Genoese crossbowmen were an elite military corps of the middle ages, that hailed from the Italian city republic of Genova. They served as the main defenders of the city, but also served as mercenaries. They were one of the most well-respected military corps in Europe, even years after the introduction of black powder weapons. Genoese crossbowmen were known to inflict very heavy casualties, and played a decisive role in many land in naval battles throughout medieval history, including those of the first and third crusades. They were armed with a metal helmet, pavise, and crossbow made by the famed Balistai Corporation.
Gameplay Idea: I think we need more "mercenary" units, as money couriers are still not very useful, even with disbanded knights. I think adding a mercenary ranged unit that is more powerful than other archers, but requires money couriers, could help make a mercenary/money courier strategy more effective.
Cost: 3
HP: 20
Range: 6 (affected by master archery 1 and 2)
Attack: 12 (affected by master archery 1 and 2)
Armor: 1 (affected by archer armor 1 and 2)
P. Armor: 3 (affected by archer armor 1 and 2)
Move: 3
Sight: 8
Turns until vanish: 2
money couriers add +3 to vanish time
For gameplay reasons, I do not think it should be built in archery range. Maybe town center, or castles only?

The Genoese crossbowmen (Italian : Balestrieri genovesi ) were a famous military corps of the
Middle Ages , which acted both in defence of the Republic of Genoa , and as mercenaries for other Italian or European powers.
Armed with crossbows made in Genoa by the
Balistai Corporation, they fought both on land and in naval battles; notable cases of the latter are the battles of Meloria and Curzola . They came also from other parts of Liguria , but were trained and organized in Genoa .

It looks very good! However, is it possible to put a pavise in the image somehow? Because the pavise was basically what made the genoese crossbowmen OP in real life (thus the high pierce armor)
