Internal Passive Movement Concept

Post by TntAttack »

Idea has three parts. Concept possibly better suited in unity engine.

1. Transferring units between different tiles.

Currently in order for one to "resupply" their transport vehicle with infantry, they have to drive into a town/building. Inside that town, they can manipulate the units with little restrictions.

What if we could passively transfer such units from one town/carrier to another town/carrier if they are next to each other?

So instead of placing your transport vehicle inside the town, you can park it outside the town.

2. Roads

Roads don't have much of a function now. Building them is fickle and not cost effective. Roads should be able to entend the "transfer" units range from one town/carrier to another town/carrier.

E.g. Town A connected to road connected town B. Transferring of units from town A to B is possible.

Of course this brings up the question of "Well what if there is a really long road?"

3. Internal passive unit movement "speed" attribute

I am think half of their current "speed" attribute. As for the exact internal passive speed that can be discussed.

Example.

Town (when are we going to get cities in AoWw) surround by enemies. Roads are around the surrounded town.

Reinforcements in transport vehicle arrived, a bit far off, but they step on one of the roads linking to the town. Unit A has enough internal movement to "move" internally over to town and from their can move and attack normally like a regular unit.

Intent:
Player bases and defenses can free more "interconnected" and promoted structured base defense designs with strategical placed roads.

Additional. Idea compliments the idea that defenses e.g. bunkers and towers should be neutral if unmanned because players don't have physically move troops inside when they can internally move them as long as they have roads or town nearby.

Idea also might make rails much more interesting as an alternative to roads... E.g. Supplying troops from train on rails 3-4 rail tiles away to town A.
