Antietam Creek map

Post by Alex486 »

The battle of Antietan was the single largest loss of life in American history for a single day. Around 28,000 died.

For a map idea, create 3 maps. 1 20x20 that has a creak that is 9 spaces wide. Rocks line both sides with occasional breaks in the rocks. In the middle, 1 bridge that is 4 wide.
Map 2 would be 30 x 30 similar setup, but two bridges.
Map 3 would be 40x40 with 3 bridges.

Thoughts?

Um, this is from the Civil War. How will you do this with AoS units?
Thanks!

i know, wrong era, but the control of the bridges is key. The length of the bridge and the width will make it hard to defend and take ownership. Plus with other water crossing, should be a great battle.

Ok, if it can be done, I'm all for it! :) Make sure to preserve the original strategies/strengths and weaknesses.
Thanks!

That's better... ;-)

That map/battle could actually work for AoS...you just substitute bowmen for musketeers and swordsmen for close-quarters combat units...catapults are artillery units (cannonades)...you get the idea...

Well, here Alex: I dispensed slightly with your design - not that mine is any more accurate. :) What do you think?

How were you visualizing this? As FAN map, random map, short campaign...?
Thanks!

So Alex, you don't like it?

It is a big map, maybe made into three maps in a short campaign?
Thanks!
