Ranger

Post by Alexander82 »

Armed with 2 swords and a bow and dressed in light armors. The ranger keep a animal companion (usually bears, wolves, hawks and so on) and has some magic abilities related to nature (healing, regeneration, entangle, buffs).

I think the cloack might look better as a natural color. Like brown or green or greenish brown.

Just a thought.

About stats i'd say:
Cost 8
HP 30
Attack (melee) 12
Attack (ranged) 8
Range (melee) 1
Range (Ranged) 5
Armor 3
Pierce Armor 3
Speed 4
Sight 8
Action 2
Heal Rate 6
Spell Resistance 80%
Active skills:
Switch stance (used to swith melee with ranged mode, it doesn't cost an action point)
Heal
Entangle (debuff, aoe, enemy units affected have to pass a check with that % 100-(target attack*5), if they don't pass the check they can't move until the next turn (they can still attack))
Regeneration (range 2, duration 4, doesn't stack, the effect heal half the ranger heal rate every turn)
Hawkeye (buff, range 2,duration 4, increase target range (ranged units only) by 2
Summon Animal companion (like druid wolf summon, but we might think of a different animal)
Forestwalk
Built at Archery range, Barracks, Castle (it is both melee and ranged and it is an elite unit)

When has the term aoe been the source of any confusion?

Hi,
Bit confused due the Name caus a Ranger is already Implemented for AOS and it would be strange to have that strong difference in stats.

Maybe something like Guard oft thr Forrest vor some Fantasy Stuff. If you completly disagree i would und er stand that (vor Ranger of the North :))

Ranger in fantasy rpg are different from rangers in the real world, so i think that would'nt be a great problem

I think the name Ranger is fine.

I agree it is a little strange since it is also a different unit in AoS, but these are two different games. :)

nice, but i suggest this onto the vote sessions (soon i will suggest AOF too to be voted as AOS)
i try to fill in the gaps in other races to start the voting - humans are already a detailed race.

So, I noticed you've still not decided on wether or not the danger should summon a wolf of something like so how's a hunting dog to take its place? I have an image ready in case you want that.

This unit would be nice for elves but for now let's focus on the other 4 needing help

Scalefolk
Dwarves
Orcs
Undead

Hunter

Post by MrLich »

Name:hunter(alternatively poacher, its not supposed to be dqd style hunter, rather a less animal friendly unit) hp:80. Cooldown:3 or 4. Dmg:21(ranged)30(melee) range:6 or 7 (ranged). Armor, pierce armor(1 or 0)both. Sight:8 or 9. Passive Forest walk. Default attack bonuses on ranged attacks, 50%or 100%against animals on both variants. Abilities:switch weapon, aimed shot(either extra range variant, or extra dmg version, the same cooldown as on other units) bear trap(set a trap on adjacent tile that deals 10 dmg, applies slowing and bleeding debuff on the enemy who stands on it,cooldown:3,either add vanishing to prevent trap spam or limit max number of traps to 1 or 2)trained in hunter s lodge

hey i really like this one but call it a trapper - i think melee only bc skarn is dual - make traps a bit stronger, detect traps/pits too, and give it good speed over all terrain

maybe can be hidden by "camouflage" if no other action is taken, and yeah a 1-2 trap limit per unit definitely necessary

good compliment to skarn, lodge needs something
