Unit: Battleship (Elves) — ARCHIVED

Post by dust-n-steel »

As in the task list is mentioned that there's a lack of naval units for the non-human race: here's the evish battleship:

Maybe it deals a hard ram damage?

woa! looks pretty cool!
however if you see the elf guideline here, Elves have no naval units, but they have animals of the sea on their side:
see here: http://www.ageofstrategy.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=569

the only ship they need to have is a transportship (or this also could be some kind of turtle/tortoise), besides that only the sea animals/beings.

Should we change this and I reskin the animals as creatures for the undeads?

I think the elves hould have some boats (like in LoTR), but not as many as the humans.
In this case the ram ship and the crossbow-ship after an update.

I would really like this

Speaking completely from a Tolkienist perspective, the "elves" (Eldar) had a very advanced navy. Starting on the Great March, the "Sea-Elves" (Teleri) began their essay into the craft around the inland Sea of Rhun. The craft was perfected with the help of the Man of the Sea (Osse). The Elves under Cirdan the Shipwright in Middle-Earth (Endor) continued building through the first age, these Elves aided Earendel the Mariner (incidentally he was half elven, another famous elven mariner was Voronwe) build famous Wingelot. However the Elves at no time had a large navy for warfare, Men (Atani) or more specifically, Numenoreans were the sea powers. So if Elves have a navy it should consist of smaller fast ships, lightly armed. Also there were some adaptions to river warfare (ie Lorien).

This is not giving thought to any Fantasy genre traditions, only in accordance to the Histories of Arda (LotR, Hobbit, etc.).
Thanks!

So I think 1 standard ship (with strong ramming attack and fast) and the harpoon ship after an upgrade is a nice thing :). We need a transport ship for the elves
