If it gets implemented, yes a gem unit.

Is black powder more advanced than gunpowder or same thing. Anything more advanced than gunpowder shouldn't be implemented. And this unit looks like it doesn't require gunpowder to work.

EDIT: Just realised black powder and gunpowder is a same thing lol.

The reason ot needs powder is unlocking morw units for more units for a single so costful research (powder) and advancing into a new era (not impliying an era unlocking mechanic)

Those units need gunpowder tech because they use it. This one doesn't.

Pwder implies a new era a nwe era gives acces to more advanced weaponry and armor

We have hoplite (greek), legionairre (rome), samurai (japan), celtic (scotland) etc. armors and weapons. Why can't we have rodeleros too? Gunpowder isn't a new era just a tech and has no connection with his armor and weapons. It's just that his equipment was improved in time gunpowder was researched. It's independant.

You can have this guy and man at arms at the same time

Rodeleros are meant to fight pikemen well. They are useful to break "push of pike". I think they can get a bonus.
