Resources - ANSWERED

Post by BlanceandIdeaguy »

I am getting extremely overwhelmed at the fact that each unit are produced by turns. Sometimes i actually have troubles keeping them, theres too many being produced. Thats why we need a vitrual enecomny. I am extremely sorry for my spelling. Such as Leather, copper, wheat, iron, coal, silver, wood and such. HERES an example. 20 leather, 5 copper, 2 wood = skrmisher.

Being Extremely Overwhelmed

Post by BlanceandIdeaguy »

Listen, we need to create a vitural Economy, to balance unit creation. If turns create units, people get ovetwhelmed due to the fact at each 2 turns they get around 5 pikemen. But we could decrease that by making resources. Wood, wheat, Leather, Iron, copper and Magic stone (For Healer). Let me give you an example. 20 leather, 5 copper, 2 wood = Skrmisher

(i have merged your similar topics)
The idea is good, i think the engine will contain the possibility sometime, but AOS was designed to be more simple then eg. Age Of Empires, this is why i removed resources from the idea.

Daniel you could make a age of strategy two. Which will have more complicated ideas but, those who like true age f strategy gameplay, can play this one.

Oh yes, Daniel! Just make an entire new platform! And while you're at it, go ahead and make a new operating system for iPhone! ;)

Forgive me for my sarcasm :P . I actually like this idea, though; but I think the problem is that the current engine (the one that can support only one terrain layer) is not capable of supporting resources yet. But please tell me if I'm mistaken.

And there are FOUR variants of this game, which is not yet finished with itself.
Thanks!

currencies in game. - ANSWERED

Post by balint »

the game has only one resource at the moment (turns)
Idea:
Add a few more resources, such like: wood, stone, food, iron

they could be gathered from the map, and they let you build advanced units
I think of these:
siege equipment requires woof and stone

So like AOK then?

It sounds good. But it would be a very big change in the games play system.

Maybe it could be a extra game option? like fog and upgrades.

Many of Us are fans of AoE and think with that resource idea we can also make empires i.e. like races in AoF.
Just a suggestion and if you think it is correct the game name could be Age Of Strategy:Empire Edition

He probably meant a new AoS varriant heavily based on Age of Empires(or kings),where we can choose nations, gather resources and such

But a game can be very long with this concept.

I don't think I'd like any AoS variation that forced balancing resources. The turns setup makes it simple to get to strategizing your moves and unit choices, rather than resource production.

Yes this thing makes the game unique for its ownself. If one side I speak then I can say a lot of variants aren't required RIGHT NOW!We should focus I think on these upcoming games first. And as we make it settled we can still see whether this idea would be good or bad.

From the other side I think a resource gathering part can be useful as there is a real great thing for this. However it is a little raw for Turn-based games but this has been great feature of strategical games since the past decades.

Resources are no fun while making maps, if you want resources AoS isnt the right game for you :|
The current method allows creativity and simplicity (in contrary to e.g Settlers (IV had a map editor, ist isnt un making maps :( ))
I think there needs to be another Age (Age of Industry?), where resources can be added.

My conclusion:
I love the idea, but Aos and Aof arent the games for resources ;)
