Re: Units attacking spies...and dying
this is intentional, a spy has deathtouch.
Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
They don't kill him outright so he then counterattacks. Apparently with deathtouch.
Tested just now with workers. Works so both for spies and assassins. In both cases they survive the attack.
Assassins are described in Help as having that Deathtouch instakill ability. For spies this is undocumented AFAIK,

Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
sorry, only assassin should have deathtouch
Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
They should have deadtouch but should die at the same time
Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
I don't know, if you want to silence a spy you better do it before he gets his chance to slit your throat to keep you from talking.
You can always step on him to capture him even with workers.
But what do you think would happen to a stray worker who assaults a spineless cowardly but cornered trained spy with a concealed blade? Stepping on him is like a suprise attack, since he thinks he's safe till he gets grabbed
Worker: Hey! You aren't supposed to be here
Spy: *cowardly whimper*
Worker: *goes to grab him*
Spy: Ayaayayaywybfbrjsiow! *lunges with blade*
Spy cries over his body. Is discovered and tortured
So he should have death touch but die also

Hahaha
Love the explanation...
But how to explain that a wagon attacking a spy is destroyed too? With a simple blade?

The wagon hits the spy who tried crossing the road without looking both ways, and the spy gets killed. However, his cloak gets caught in the front axle, causing the speeding wagon to flip and break.
The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed, will set off a revolution.

But then have there a message about what have happened because otherwise it would look like moving a unit to empty space made it just disappear.
Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
If you attack it be trying to ram then of course the cloak will be your downfall
And the wagon driver might be scared after killing a spy and might fear retribution and decides to defect and lay low
And when you step on an assassin I'm pretty sure you get a dialog box saying you destroyed him

I think that an assassin shouldn't kill on counter.
An assassin kill in one move cause it is unnoticed and strike a vital point. An assassin shouldn't be able to kill any unit that is aware of their resence but just deal the normal damage (that means that assassins shouldn't be able to kill anyone if they are discovered).

Just "(that means that assassins shouldn't be able to insta-kill anyone if they are discovered)". if that wagon has just 1 HP left, it still dies.

Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
they have "death touch" so they will kill with any damage
Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
And what about spies having death touch? Is that not a bug?

yes that was not intentional.
i will check if you say they have deathtouch.

Re: Units attacking spies...and dying ASWERED
Well only when the unit cannot kill them on one turn.
. If a spy with 4hps is attacked by a wagon, the wagon dies.
. If a spy, with one he left is attacked by a wagon, the spy dies.
Same for assassins.
Both are bugs I guess, as assassins usually also die after killing someone. In that cases they don't. And by the way, I don't think they should have death touch when being attacked.
