Re: Falangist
Thinking about it i think that phalanx soldiers was armed with spear and shield. That would make sense for a armor/pierce increase.

I imagined something like this:COOLguy wrote:Perhaps that could be good. But I do like the idea of a level 3 upgrade for the pikeman to keep up with the man-at-arms.

Re: Falangist
That is a good idea, but this was suggested as an upgrade for the halberdier.HokanPL wrote:I imagined something like this:COOLguy wrote:Perhaps that could be good. But I do like the idea of a level 3 upgrade for the pikeman to keep up with the man-at-arms.

Maybe that unit that you are suggesting could be like a "Glaive" or something.
Btw, about this name "Falangist", I assumed you were referencing the phalanx formation. Or was that based off of the Spanish Fascist party?
Thanks!

Re: halberdier to improved halberd
Cool, but a few things:
weapon looks cool, but a bit too fantasyish maybe. A double-bladed halberd like that seems very impractical, like a ceremonial (for show) weapon. Unless, of course, we want it to look more ceremonial, like a royal guard sort of thing (in which case the cape version matches that concept great).
Also, I like the shiny breastplate, but the shiny plate armor goes all the way down his thighs without any breaks in it except the belt, which makes it look a little like metal pajamas.
Perhaps just thigh guards or normal pants would look better?
Very good image though!

Re: halberdier to improved halberd
Disco, bills are cool. I created a dwarven billman for AoF, but Hardeep thinks the name is dumb.
And yes Alexander, looks like the image you made is almost exactly a trilance sruss. I suppose it was an actually used weapon.
Also, here is a post I made a whike ago with a helpful picture.

There should be a Dwarven Billman unit or something of the sort. A bill is kind of like a halberd, like this:

Honestly any of these polearms would look good on a dwarf I think

Re: halberdier to improved halberd
Well, the pants look much better.
As for the weapon, it looks cool to me! Also, I think a bill like that is better for a halberd upgrade, because they were meant for fighting plated knights, as the hooks would catch the armor and yank the knight off his horse.
Double bladed poleaxes like in the earlier draft were not necessarily an anti cavalry weapon it seems, although they were mesnt to cleave through armour.

Hehe Bill's are ace! Although i actually never heard of em till a few months ago, whilst playing Medieval Total War! I prefered them to the halberdiers.

Well, the image is the same size as other infantry, but the blade at the top of the pole is big, which makes the guy look small, is probably what you are seeing.

I think we might call it bill halberdier
What about adding a special skill? Like reducing mounted unit's speed?

Name is good.
As for a special, I think that might be strange for an upgrade of a basic unit...

I don't think a calling someone using a bill should be called a halberdier. Thats kinda like saying pike halberdier

Re: halberdier to improved halberd
What? You were the one who made fun of the name "billman" in AoF's dwarves.
I mean, I'm personally fine with the name billman or bill halberdier, but I don't have any preference.

As much as I am opposed to giving a dwarf unit such an atrocious name, Bill halberdier is eons worse
