Axe Knight - IMPLEMENTED

Post by Hardeep »

Swords are fine and dandy, but pretty much every unit is using them currently :(
So I propose a new cavalry unit wielding axes (else how is one supposed to yell Baruk Khazâd without being a fraud?)! It would be a castle unit (maybe stables)
It should be slighty overpowered (Daniel decreed that all castle units should be)
Name Horseman
Cost 3
Hp 28
Power 9
Sight 5
Movement 5
Armour 1/1
0% conversion resist
What do you think? We need more axes!

So, I don't get what is different besides the axe and the OP stats

Is that basically the idea? An OP knight with an axe? I mean, I guess I'm all for it, butnI can't say it's the most interesting idea

He is weaker power wise, and is significantly worse than a heavy knight. It is a quick build unit since Daniel expressed the need for more castle units, which is quite a real issue.

I have already posted this idea as " hun horsemen"
Check it

Yes, the idea is good and historical. I also like the stat ideas. If we can make sure that it is definitely separate from the hun horsemen, then I am in favor of this.
Thanks!

We night just combine both topics as they have the same basic idea- a mounted axeman

The hun horsemen were super strong with a 6-7 turn cost that could insta kill someone at a distance and then become useless..... Im talking a regular equestrian with an axe!

Patroid
I absolutely love it!
Maybe the axe could be slightly tipped forward or backward to suggest either a gallop or a wind up for a swing

it can be a "cooldown" thing like in AOF, he throws the axe and in lot turns of "cooldown" (eg. 6 turns) he can get the axe again to throw it again. and axe can be a high eg. 25 damage?

How about it being like a paladin with 3/4 ranged attack of power 25-30 (fatal for allunits exxcept some very special units, structures and non living weapons) or melee attack of 10.
The ranged attack having 5 turn cooldown and the melee one with 2 cooldown(they generally left their axes in the bodies of their targets and then returned to collect it)

Maybe tip axe forward or backward, touch up shading on the hat and whatever it is on his back
Also make the horseshoes more seperate from the horse skin, so maybe a brighter colour?

The horse legs are kinda short I think... Makes it look a little bit like a pony :)

the movement is nice! but yes, you need ore pixels up and down - extend it and let the legs and the axe have space.

True, but that wouldn't be historically accurate I think as the axe would be unbalanced.
We'll see if I can think up of a double bladed axeman :D

Made a few minor changes to make it look less like a hun and more like a mercenary-type of... well... a horseman! :) Added some teamcoloring as well, as 2 pixels is not enough imo. Here is the image, hope you like!
