historical campaigns

Post by patroid »

Hi guys
I think (since we have eagxptian campaign or paths of rome or even
Tge crusader units) that we need many historical units...simply for each
Larger nation that had swords and stuff.
So here i gonna link historical unit topics/collections
(Feel free to pm me if u want me to design some historical units for campaigns)

Turkish/Ottoman units have been suggested: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2261

I think existing unit ideas are:
Mameluks
Janissaries
Sipahi
Thanks!

The janissary is far from complete, the turkish spahi(there were indian units of the same name too called "sipahi" in devanagri(hindi) language and it means a pawn or a foot soldier) is a bit complicated and may take time to be implemented. So we first need to implement mameluks which is a complete and accepted unit

Is the Indian "sipahi" related in any way to the later "sepoys" during the British Empire?
Thanks!

"sepoy " is a rip off term given to the modern indian foot soldier or musketeer, which were called "sipahis" too as u correctly mwntioned. They were just upgraded version of the sipahis which i am talking about
But if you look in deep detail, there is no special indian unit called sipahi, ita just the name given to any foot soldier in the main indian languages(hindi or might be urdu)
So i thought if we make an indian footsoldier than why not use this name
