Re: Banner bearer
Ok How are these? One has a dagger. The other has a sword on his back, banner in right hand, shield in left.

Re: Banner bearer
Good idea will be help full in telling the difference between yellow and green at a glance. Will definitely become main target on the front lines, I believe he will need to start with at least a 1 or 2 in armour if he can draw a lot of fire and take it. Will ease the pressure on nearby units.
and remember, wherever your at,there you are

Re: Banner bearer
Banner carriers were typically not meant for combat, they were used as a way to differentiate between different forces. Most average soldiers wore little more than leather or wool tunics, with the more elite soldiers wearing mail or plate. Because soldiers on the battlefield often looked so similar, chaos could easily errupt as ally turned against ally, not sure of whose side the other was on. Banner wielders were mostly used on the battlefield to solve this issue.
However, it was also a huge moral boost to see your country's (or house's) banner still flying. yet another purpose.
So how about a ladder bearer increased loyalty by 50% or something to everyone within 2 spaces. and he could add plus one attack like op said. That way it would help organize your forces and make them a formidable force, like they were meant to in real life.
And yeah, they should not carry a shield. A sword would be more proper. The flag is not a pike, it is a banner....

Re: Banner bearer
HP 25
Attack 2
Armor 1
Pierce armor 3
Speed 3
Cost 6
Resistance to conversion, 100%
Sight 3
+1 Attack, and 50% loyalty to all friendly units within 2 square radius.
Just my thought on the stats from what ive read so far. Is this okay?
I also like Coolguys 2nd banner bearer. Looks pretty dope.

Re: Banner bearer
I think the amour needs to be higher. Maybe a 3 or 4 including pierce armor since the unit really can't attack anything. make it hard to kill. the Hussar that has 35 HP and pierce armor of 2 is cut down with 6 upgraded crossbow men shots.
Anything is feasible with enough money and power.

Re: Banner bearer
Actually the hungarian hussar has 25 hp and pierce armor of 3 as well. If the bearer had more hp or armor the cost would need to be higher than 6. Reason why i believe it should be 6 is because it gives everyone in a 2 square radius a +1 and 50% loyalty. Sure it doesnt attack but its strength is the numbers it buffs up.

Re: Banner bearer
After all we can find out by playing if it needs adjustments or not
And you have to think if you'd prefer to have 5 hussars or 4 ussars near a banner bearer

The unit is meant to be somehwat weak. He is not a soldier, he is a strategic unit for buffing your armies

Re: Banner bearer
I realize I'm late on this (yet another) topic, but since it doesn't seem to be in-game, yet...i like the unit idea, but the banner bearer was basically a non-combat unit...while yes, the banners were used for group identification, they were also used by commanders to coordinate troop movements and maneuvers...think along the lines of british semaphore (flag-signalling)...buti agreed they should have an attack ability, though a weak one...after all, any schmoe can pick up a rock and bust an enemy in the head with it...
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people wonder if you're a fool than to open it and remove all doubt...

Banner/Standard
A banner that is built off of you team colour,it would give +1 armour and +1 attack for a range of 3 tiles
20 health
2 armour
4 pierce armour
3 sight
Garrisonable:no
The name could be standard or banner. What do you think? Lets get some votes or suggestions going.

A good compromise?
(Sorry, I changed patroid's guy's pants because the grey looked shiny and was hard to tell apart.)

Re: Banner bearer
That look great! But I think his legs might need re-doing. As there quite "chunky" compared to his torso, and his boots are a little big for him

Re: Banner bearer
Now it looks a little odd, maybe. Maybe I should edit the legs again a bit?

Well I think his legs are still in an odd position but it is better than the "ballerina" pose of mine.
Thanks!
