Early Middle Age (1066 to 1150):
This period is often associated with the aftermath of the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 and extends until around 1150.
It's characterized by the gradual merging of Norman, Anglo-Saxon, and Viking cultures.
The Early Middle Ages saw the construction of many castles and the development of feudalism, a social and economic system where land was exchanged for military service and loyalty.



Middle Ages (1150 to 1340):
The Middle Ages, sometimes referred to as the High Middle Ages, is a period of significant cultural, intellectual, and economic growth in Europe.
During this time, Gothic architecture flourished, exemplified by cathedrals like Chartres and Notre-Dame.
Universities began to emerge, contributing to advances in philosophy, theology, and science.
Major events include the Magna Carta (1215) and the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453).



Late Middle Ages (1340 to 1500):
The Late Middle Ages saw various challenges, including the Black Death (mid-14th century), which had a devastating impact on European population.
It's also marked by the Hundred Years' War between England and France and the Western Schism, a split in the Catholic Church.
Cultural changes included the rise of the Renaissance in Italy, which would lead to a revitalization of art, literature, and learning.

Early Modern Period (Renaissance Era, 1500 to 1700):
The Renaissance was a cultural and intellectual movement that began in Italy around the 14th century and spread throughout Europe.

This period also witnessed the Age of Exploration, with voyages of discovery by explorers like Columbus and Magellan.
The Reformation, led by figures like Martin Luther, began in the early 16th century, challenging the authority of the Catholic Church.

First of all - game is not only focused on medieval.
There is a lot from classical period.
Secondly - not all parts of the world was advancing equally, especially if we only consider military aspect.
And thirdly - there will be no early modern period (at least not soon) as that would require vomplete change of balance in the battlefields.

So, while we do consider age techs to be needed - somewhat different categorisation needs to be used.
And no modern.

And deciding which units should be unlocked at which age for all the hundreds of units in the game is very time consuming. We're currently in the beginning of the process of just tiering them to map where they are in strength at the moment, before any discussion starts on where they should go after age techs are added, and that has already taken about 2 months, so don't expect that to be done soon :sweat_smile:
