The helmet bears an uncanny resemblance to the one in star wars

Re: Longswordman
The sprite need more shading.
I remember my first time making a unit and i had problems to understand at first
Consider wich part of the image might have less light on them and "brush" them with some black with a certain transparency (like 10%) until you are satisfied with the result.
Also the outline of the shield seems a bit irregular, and given the unit armor you might think of a bigger shield (this one is the one i made for the basic warriors).
keep up the good work

Re: Longswordman
The effect, to me, is that is just darker.
You will need some time to take the grasp of how it works. For now just keep in mind that you need different parts of the armor to be on light (brighter color) and other on shadow (darker color)

Re: Longswordman
It seems already better
Now try to add some more details on the armor an give it a more shiny look (for example the shoulder pad might reflect the light in a more visible way)

Add more shading there. The lower shoulder pad should be darker than the upper part.
If you go on my minotaur topic you can see the effect

Re: Longswordman
Now try to improve the breast (upper torso) of the armor
You should consider that the parts that tend to go on the external (for example the thicker part of a muscle or a breast or the central part of arms and legs) should be more in light. That gives a more 3d effect (if your breast is more in light it seems is bumping out of the rest of the picture).
Now try to give that effect to the torso, so you will have the pectorals go out and the abdoben falling more backward (on an athletic person the waist is smaller than the breast)

Re: Longswordman
I'm making some comparisons with other units in game
I would make stats more like those at the start, so we might later add upgrades as for other units (otherwise the upgraded units stats would really be OP; remember that humans also have the +2/+2 armor and +2 attack upgrades for all the units)

Re: Longswordman
I hate to say this, but I imagine a longswordsman as having a long sword and no shield... This unit seems to have broadsword/shortsword and a shield
The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed, will set off a revolution.
Re: Longswordman
I agree with DoomCarrot, How about a Longswordsman that's similar to a knight in "For Honor"

I am, indeed, a big Witch King and Middle Earth fan if you didn't notice.
Re: Longswordman
