Post WW2 units - AOMW CLOSED
Came up this possibility too: question is what do forumers think about extending AOW instead of making a new alternative AOMW for modern warfare.
in a Nutshell:
- Simply putting in a few new industry levels (up to recent days)
- These levels bring in new units of given "industry" level
- And some unit will no longer be buildable in next levels (eg. being obsolete tank designs)
- all new industry level will have its "default units" (that do not cost gems in upgrades section), so all palyable
- Some unit might go auto-upgrade existing ones, eg fixed defensive artillery can be some kind of rocket thing.
- Some nations can change flags + name in new industry levels to appear as post ww2 flags and names (but still being same nation)

Re: Post WW2 units - AOMW
I have a few questions:
1-)What will happen if players want to play WW2 only or Modern only?
2-)Will the modern stuff be so expensive and op?
3-)How will the splitted nations work?Like Germany split into East and West Germany

I'm against, looks like too much of a challange to balance WW2 and modern units.
plus i don't think the community would react positively to such decision.

Re: Post WW2 units - AOMW
How about the WW1 units, and other things?
WW2 is correlated to WW1, and due to that war WW2 is to be expected.
Plus, balancing AoW will become much harder with this change, if AoMW is to be included in.

The war is inevitable! But what if....

No?
There are artillery today that can reach 1000km. Yes 1000km!
There are also nuclear that can reach from all over the world.
The fighter jets also are way too fast also.
If this units enter a game that started on ww2.
They would go all over the map in no time.

Re: Post WW2 units - AOMW
This would end up having the game with excess units and eras.
The game is not Sid Merier's Civilization anyways.
Also, yes, the settings between these two eras (WW2 and Cold War), the military doctrines, tech level and factions are already hugely different. The two settings are not fully compatible.

1. we can implement option for "starting indistry level" on game start (was a request already.)Gruppenführer Erwin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 9:43 am I have a few questions:

2. not sure i understand - modern will not be more expensive imho i mean a plane with same sole will cost the same - but it is tobe defined later.
3. splitted nations: i would not make such eg. Germany would remain Germany. - or is here any specific weirdity in this?

Re: Post WW2 units - AOMW
actually my question here is that do we want a "CIV" like age-advancing game, or more likely in a single "age" game (as AOW now in only WW2)GeneralWadaling wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 1:18 pm This would end up having the game with excess units and eras.

compatibility: yes that would need work - and maybe hard to make.

I agree with this. I would also like to include World War 1 units, but I fell like the same principle would apply.GeneralWadaling wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 1:18 pm
