Not all. Most of.
there is 2 reasons at least for that in Lore of homm 5 And Warcraft 3 (on which i am trying to base our lore somehow):
1. They are weaker than humans to wear similar armor.
2. Lighter armor allows better mobility (in different ways - dodge, first strike, higher speed, 2 or more actions)

They have better mobility and can dodge attacks.
they need atleast one heavy unit besides the ents tho
elves themselves - no. no heavy tanky as ents/trolls units.
But wood elves have deep connection with spirits of nature and they can summon them for aid.
And i am pretty sure that spirit of any Mountain is more tanky than any Cyclops.

We will see that people much choose.

sounds good, but making all units dodge bois sounds unreliable

All elves only.
Also some elves (like those hunters i suggested) rely on different way of protection instead of dodges because they can't digress on that while they are tracking their prey.

mmmmmmmmm ok.

Also elves have allies (as part of their race) - Centaurs, Satyrs, Beorns, Forest Trolls (they are weaker than orc ones), Mermans and Mermaids. These ones can be tanky ones (some of at least).

So something like this colour scheme?

I have in plans to add more centaur variants, Forest trolls (they will become alternative to troll headhunters and orc axe throwers but weaker), Few Satyr units, Beorns (forest intelligent bears).

Yes. Exactly, savra.

So elves are getting forest trolls or, you know what we should make an orc subrace pg to put theirs in.

Forest trolls are green ones, weaker than orcish grey trolls in terms of toughness and size.

I know what a forest troll looks like, but I've never heard of them being weaker but it we 're going with that then okay. What about frost/snow trolls?

Firstly i wanted all troll become their own race excluding ones orcs own.
but scrap those plans.

Forest trolls are in terms of size and power somewhat similar to orcs. exept they are much better in range than orcs.
As for other subspecies of trolls (Dark, snow, sand) for now i don't know where they can fit.

They have better mobility and can dodge attacks.

I can't imagine how any "elf" from your picture can dodge anything (apart from those archers in green capes)
They don't dodge they parry

A lighter armor will be good.

In many games are "elemental trolls so this is no problem.

Every setting has his own logic.

Dark elves are from the forgotten realm setting (d&d) and are archenemies with normal elves.

Night elves and blood elves are from warcraft setting. (where the first are part of the alliance and the latter are with the horde.

High elves (those in the images) are from Warhammer setting.

If you go in the elder scroll you can find altmer, dunmer and bosmer (and dweomer that are dwarves) and they can all live together.

I think we should go with our own concepts

For example

High/sun elves: better melee
Dark/moon/night: adept in magic, higher res spell
Wood elves(normal): the most agile and better archers

I want a bit different setting (all these are among elven race only):
Moon ones - ambush tactics, better offencive magic
Wood ones - best archers, best summons
Sun ones - best melee, best siege, best armor

Spell resist must be similar i think.

High elves and Sun elves are the one. just different names.
As for units i need to search for units who can fit them.

Sun elves could be their armoured defender like the kobold warden, or orc armoured warrior as well as any other armour related variant.. Moon elves could be assassins and stealth related classes.

Asctually moon elves are somewhat are assasins)
Read first post.

They have "Windwalk" ability that doubles their damage if they attack enemy while they are under this effect. affects only normal attack, doesn't affect spell damage.
Alas they are not so good as human assasin (who instakills ANYTHING if he is able to hit it)

If that's the case shouldn't we be only focusing on the first sub fraction and not multiple

We should focus on needed units, not on subraces.

Need :caster, melee, and mounted.
Tower(offence-msgic) ships
