Celtic unit : Gallowglass IMPLEMENTED

The gallowglasses (also spelled galloglass, gallowglas or galloglas; from Irish: gall óglaigh meaning foreign warriors) were a class of elite mercenary warriors who were principally members of the Norse-Gaelic clans of Scotland between the mid 13th century and late 16th century. As Scots, they were Gaels and shared a common background and language with the Irish, but as they were descendants of 10th century Norse settlers who had intermarried with the local population in western Scotland, the Irish called them Gall Gaeil ("foreign Gaels")..

They were noted for wielding the massive two-handed sparth axe and broadsword or claymore ("claidheamh mór"). For armour, the gallowglass wore a mail shirt over a padded jacket and an iron helmet..

well they really werent celtic more like irish and it looks really cool, fits the mercenary role perfectly

scottish and irish people share common history but they are different cultures, the "celts" dissapeared long ago as the irish and scottish around the 10th century became christian and subsequentialy catholics

Dont say that, u have already done a great sprite
as endru said, if ur topic hasnt been accepted or denied, it could be for a lot of reasons...first, u should define clearly the role of the unit: anti-infantry, anti-buidings (since those are the bonuses it has...)
also, armor breaking wouldnt fit it if it is an anti-ubildings unit (right now it looks more like on of those)
as a mercenary it sounds really cool...

thats your decision...and the decision of endru and stratego of course!
but u have to chose
look at the falxman mercenary bonuses, it is an anti infantry as main role, but it is still an anti-buidings unit...with a low bonus, but it is!
maybe it could fit as both of them.
remember to that the sprite is a refenrece for lots of forms of a unit, this one could perfectly be a swordman instead of a axeman. both of them have bonus against buildings so i think u should enterely ignore that...since this is a melee specialist it could have bonus against infantry too...
so my final advice is to have both of them, but they must be balanced with the stats...

Wait - they used spaarth axe?
Then anti-heavy role would be absurd.
Spaarth axe is weapon designed to deal huge damage - often even cutting the bones, but it deals with metal armor poorly. Especially with plates.
I'd make him closer to zweihander.
Also - as we currently lack celtic units - maybe make him normal non-mercenary?

Is it possible to add "By pass armor of unit [categories]"?
If so lets add something unique to Gallowglass.
An ability to only ignore melee armor of light infantry.

It's not possible in current engine.
But I deal with it adding bonuses.
About the stats - I already put him in the pack with: cost 4, 25 hp, 13 power, 1 power range (hits aoe) 3/2 armor, 45% resistance, move 3, sight 4 and bonuses +15% vs polearms, +20% vs medium infantry, +30% vs light infantry and halved swordsman bonuses.
He's categorized as heavy infatry.

Gameplay-wise: to give additional edge, because I removed 10% bonus vs heavy infantry and halfed anti-building bonuses (compared to zweihander), additional power, armor and category change seemed like little to less comparing to cost change.
Flavour-wise: they were presenting very similar mindset to most famous nordic raiders according to sources - life of battle, no fear of death. And even though they were also know from being cruel - their trademark was standing on the field to the end, even sacrificing their lifes. And unlike knights or samurais - without any financial/family reasons.

This'd be a cool unit to have..

What's the race category ?
Nordic ? Celtic ? Or both ?

Nords are my favorite faction.

Once celts are many enough they should have their own building like the nordic hall the name should be like Celtic war camp or Celt training grounds.

Well, they shared common ancestry to both.
But scottish culture mist have been more prevalent, looking at the social enviroment.
I'd say celtic fits better.

Yeah Celtic fits more,it even has warpaint tech which is very useful...especially for Celtic warrior (unit)..what sprite did you use ? The current one I posted is somehow the most accurate sprite.
