Investigate possibly unused upgrades

Post by Stratego (dev) » Sat Apr 13, 2019 9:22 am

It's in the 3rd page of upgrades below the stables.
-The infantry lvl 1 and lvl2 upgrades,
-the cavalry lvl upgrade,
-and the Archer lvl upgrade.
@Alexander82 is alredy checking if we are using these techs currently or not.

if comes out we do not use - than we need to replaec them with something in upgrades shop

Cavalry and archer (or skirmisher) are used right now.

The upgrades should act differently right now

At the moment a unit should require to be upgraded:

1) all smithing techs related his own equipment
2) infantry training or cavalry training based on the way it moves

So we shouldn't have archer training right now (since archers use the same logic)

but I think we might add 2 additional techs

1) melee training level 1 and 2 (needed to upgrade melee units)
2) ranged training level 1 and 2 (needed to upgrade ranged units)

so, for example, a swordsman would need smith techs, melee training and infantry training while a horse archer would need smith techs, cavalry training and ranged training

what do you think?

First thing first, @Alexander82:
Stratego means that these "upgrades" he mentioned are not used in the game itself for humans while they are still in gem shop list. Upgrades Stratego mentioned indeed are not shown but you still need to buy them in gem shop. Upgrade to elite archer is needed for buying to gain access to blue dragon for example.

They don't need to be reused but they must be replaced if they are not reused with something else (unit, upgrade, structure)...

As for humans upgrade system it is already quite complex and they don't need it even more complex than it is now.

As for "melee training" and "ranged training" — what's the difference between them and "melee weapons" and " ranged weapons" upgrades from blacksmith?

Here are images:
Both outlined with red upgrades are infantry armor upgrades. As you can see they are required for buying in order to get access to battering ram.

And this is to elite archer upgrade on next page. It is required for buying in order to get access to blue dragon.

The important thing is that they have no effect in game.

I told Stratego to use those shopids for some new units that we were putting in game but the delay between when I've sent my files and their implementation probably let something slide.

The other techs were only meant to add another step but they weren't necessary, that's why I asked for suggestions.
