New gem type.

So I was looking at the heroes and the new subs and figured maybe, rather then using ordinary gems, we use ruby's for the heroes and subs.

The rubys would be earned if you get a 3 star on a mission but you get only 1 per 3 star. You still will get 4 gems per 3 star missions but this 5th bonus would be for specials.

Wouldn't work on heroes
Those are becoming easter eggs in game

This could work for subs tho

So, kobald lady and such are becoming heroes?
I wasted now many gems on that? 8? And how it's going to be a hero and I still have the rest of the scaledfolk race and dwarf race to get still?

Yes, I know, I'm broke.
I have the new undead, elves, orcs, the rest of dwarves, and the entire scaledfolk race to get and the most I have is 2.

Ironic how the guy with a gem crisis is suggesting a new gem type.

I like shiny things

He meant forum heroes.
(though not all and only they get easter egg )

But can work, for exclusive things.
10 ruby worth =40 green gem
May switch for consumables (speels)being bought with too.

And some achinment can give it.

Hmmm, yes achievements should give you 1.
And I like the idea of one ruby equaling 4 gems.

@Stratego (dev) what do you think?
Any other uses you find for this?

Heroes:o did not planned to put in too many eggs, so i did not plan to put in forum heroes as eggs.

Ruby: i dont get the difference of ruby and gem. Here are read similar uses and similar how to get s. Just in different amounts.

If we introduce new currency we have to find its role

It's to unlock sub races.
If that's not enough then this can also be used as if it is 4 gems meaning a unit that costs 4 gems could be bought using either 4 gems, or 1 ruby. Ruby's could be harder to get or just be unlocked only through achievements.

4 gems = 1 ruby

It's a alternate buying method. But would be needed to unlock sub races to avoid the price being 30 and up when we don't have enough gems yet to support that.

Which do you prefer?
30 gems to unlock a sub race?
5 ruby's to unlock it?

Ways to unlock ruby's could be 1 or a few of the following:
1. Stay active for a week (in game clock, if you do not log in consecutively then it resets) 1 ruby.
2. 4 star a mission and get 1 ruby.
3. Complete an achievement and get 1 ruby.
4. Win an online game and get 1 ruby.
5. Complete a daily challenge and get 1 ruby. (If this then difficulty doesn't change the ruby amount earned maybe.)

How annoying I cant just pay for this
Anyways im sure it won't be that simple to get a whole sub race
30? Lol
Maka seem to already suggest paying a sub by tiers each since Subs have Tiers

1 tier - pay cost
2 tier - pay cost
3 tier - pay cost

Still will be costly, your not unlocking each unit individually that's why it will be costly.

Anyway I like this Ruby idea.
May image be more crimson - red

We should work on achinment /daily quest

sorry but how to imagine a subrace?

Sub race unlocks are based on tiers, not singular units so they are more costly in gems.
E.g. 20, 30, etc.

Each tier of subs will require research tech.

Instead of putting costs onto units can you put cost onto tech, @Stratego (dev)? And all units which are unlockable through tech are free.

Here's an idea: instead of adding a new currency, why not increase the amount of gems you can get in game? Up the amount you get when you four star a mission for example, or make it so that when you complete all the maps in a storyline you get a special bonus bundle depending on the amount of maps in the story

Also, if a way to get the alternate currency is getting four stars on a map, how would that affect the maps that we've already four starred before the implementation?

Whenever we update the gem group and remove units you lose that many gems for that unit.

When we combine all elites into one group then you will still end up losing that many gems due to that combination.

In other words all elites like uruks you later for will be combined and all those gems you used to get them would have been wasted.

As for ruby's just replay the maps and you can get them if you 3 star it.
But that's if that option is exepted, the achievement one and daily challenges one sounds better to me.

Makes buying subs a little easier without having to waste any more gems that could be used to get other singular units, buildings, techs. Ruby's could also be used to get them units as an alternative for lower cost because they would count as 4 gems. The sub races would be what the ruby's would be required for though.

You only get 1 ruby for completing stuff maybe even 3 at max. But that's all.

My suggestion for previous problem is just give everyone back all their gems when we do this change on combining all elites into one group so that they don't lose that much gems. Also, speaking of gem cost units:
What the neck is the point of buying a building if you don't got anything going with it? Dragon temple for example can be bought but doesn't start off with anything so you basically bought a decor.

About subs, @Stratego (dev):
Stratego (dev) wrote:

please write me example of subrace mechanic and units
1. As example i will use frostfire clan.
2. I am planning this sub race as having 3 tiers.
For unlocking units and structures of it you will require research for each tier.
Few units i hope will become easter egg ones.
2.1. For unlocking tier 1 units you will require emissary unique building and researched writing tech after which you can research tier 1 frostfire in that building. It is unique (1 per player) and must not have carry capacity so you can't speed uo this research. But it won't count as castle/building limits.
2.2. Tier 1 must be researchable for 4-5 turns. And specifically this research must be buyable for gems. Ofc because it will unlock many units some of which are rather powerful (not op though) its gem cost must be rather high. And that is for each of 3 tiers of sub (ofc not all subs will have 3 tiers).

For now i am thinking about 20 gems for tier 1 of frostfire, 28 for tier 2 and 44 for tier 3.

i see, so all units in a tier will not have gem cost? (only the tier itself?) how many units are in 1st second and 3rd tier?
which unit would be easter egg?

Easter egg units are Forum heroes I believe.

So basically, all the imperials, uruks, phantoms, brutes, sentinels, and mithiril guard will all be combined in their own groups and hopefully, he counted as the main races second tier.

That way they still keep the same places were they are trained at and not get turned into a full on sub race.

Imperial - cost:8 rubys - trained at castle, barracks, archery range, stables, docks.
Uruks - cost:8 rubys - trained at volcano and uruk tent.
Sentinels - cost:8 ruby's - trained at great tree and sentinel headquarters.
Phantoms - cost:8 ruby's - trained at mansion and phantom garrison.
Mithiril guard - cost:8 ruby's - trained at kingdom under the mountain and dwarven barracks.
Lizard men brutes - cost:8 ruby's - trained at temple and fort.

All are unlocked from their main mega, all wouldn't require writing tech because they technically aren't a full sub race. But because you unlock all together then you have to use ruby's to get them.

The cost to research the sub race would vary depending on the sub e.g. Based on how many units are in it.

A full sub race would be like Warfell and Knighthood aura Argentine who also cost ruby's but come with tiers.

About these groups i will think more, savra.
I think 8 rubies could be too much.

@Stratego (dev), exactly frostfire shb will have 8 units + 2 buildings (not towers/megas) on tier 1, 6 units + 2 buildings on tier 2 and 6 units + 2 mega buildings on tier 3. Ofc those units are more powerful than tier 1 ones.
Also on tier 1 3 easter egg units (hopefully they would be hidden in one easter egg if possible) — white bear, grizzly bear and Snow elf archer.

Ok just saying but these should be buyable just like gems are.
Its cool you got a whole process going but not everyone wants to wait nor play to get the process of Rubies
I ask @Stratego (dev) make these buyable like gems

I Posted it here cause I Posted it in wrong topic

They will be buyable also but for those who have the patience to wait the daily login, challenge, whatever Stratego chooses will become the main way.

Alright so what should we do to get these?

1. Daily log in: 1 gem per day, 1 ruby after 7 days.

2. 3 star a mission and get 1 ruby as a bonus.

3. Complete a achievement and get 1 ruby.

4. Win an online game and earn 1 ruby.

5. Complete a daily challenge and get a ruby.

6. Find a hidden ruby chest on a map. It will have a 10% chance of spawning on the map in multiplayer or Random maps, but you have to hurry and get it before the other players do Or ai.
Ruby chances from chest are:
60% 1 ruby
35% 2 rubys
5% 3 rubys

All sounds good.

Random chest on multiplayer matches
for both gems.

Chest gives gems if unit stands next to it.

(great if spawns in middle of lava lake or surrounded by mountains )
