I would like to play Patroid, I think we would be a fair match.

However, won't it mess up the brackets if we do that? Because then there woukd be 7 combatants for round 2... Unless me vs. Patroid counts as round 2, in which case the gem bet is.... (?)

No you are wrong- there will be 6 players in round 2 and 3 playera in round 3. And round 3 will be 1v1v1
