Anti-Tank Infantryman (based on fictional Gespenster Jäger)

I don't know if there were any real units like this, but in the anime/manga Pumpkin Scissors (based on post WWI Europe), there is a Corporal Randel Oland, who is from the secret 901st anti-tank unit, called Gespenster Jäger, German for Ghost Hunter. He is conditioned/trained to ignore fear and pain., and he uses a 13mm pistol (Doorknocker) to shoot tank drivers at point blank range.
