Honestly a Defender with 12/8 armor sounds just right. Who would be dumb enough to try to take down a dwarven defender with an unit of like 15-20 attack? Not to mention spellcasters can still damage / disable it pretty easily and very strong archers can still do decent damage en masse. Every race has it's balancing and undead are not supposed to be resilient anyway (apart from pierce armor) so if their best armor is 6 and dwarves' best armor can get up to 12 (without counting spell buffs) it sounds pretty balanced. Defenders are not cheap units to make and even a dwarf warrior with 5 armor and cost 2 can be taken down with ease by high tier units of pretty much every single race, including upgraded orc warriors that also have cost 2 and over 20-25 attack if I recall correctly. You have to take every single possibility of which units are countered / can counter it when balancing an unit's status. Dwarves are supposed to be the most resilient in the game at least that's what their units concepts show so that amount of armor sounds just right - and then again hardly will a dwarf be fast so units like elves will have a HUGE advantage especially in big maps. It doesn't matter if a dwarf has 1000000 pierce armor againts a lot of elf archers that will literally kite it to death dealing just 1 damage per hit and it won't even reach them. And then again, if it proves to be actually unbalanced we can always change it, nothing is permanent.

Orc warrior of max tier has 18 damage and 30 hp.
Maybe you meant uruk hais? They have 27 damage at max level.

Oops. Yes I meant Uruk as orc warrior is greatly outclased by it in the late game. But you get it. :mrgreen:

Yeah......ever tried kiting imperial shielders as elves? It doesn't work. They get healed, and will eventually reach your defenses and/or tcs to hurt you. you actually have to intercept them with strong melee, from sentinels to centaurs. Even unicorn riders are just a quick fix. Dwarven defender with 12/8 armor would be worse, as sentinel would barely scratch it and it has a bonus against cavalry, so it would chop centaurs in half and cleave straight into the next. Also remember strengthen is a dwarf spell, for an additional +3/3 armor

Armor upgrades should be +1/1 per level. Weaker units may be eligible for side upgrades if necessary.

Hmm, makes sense. Then it can be +1/+1 but then it would be 3 upgrades again because 2 for +2 for both armors is still a bit weak. The other upgrades ca still be inreased though. Like make attack upgrades worth two points instead the normal one for other races. Not to mention the dwarves will be the only ones to have an hp tech tree. So yeah I think it's fine like that. That would make the warrior have 4/4 armor at last armor upgrade level. Not bad for a cost 2 unit.

I've already suggested 2 blacksmith techs and a rune mason tech, totaling to the +3/3.

Cleric is a very interesting factor here. It can raise that to 7/7 armor for a warrior very easily, and can't be ignored.

Here is all techs of dwarves.

My suggestions are more ViP because we don't have units and building but sunrise's are completed and pretty good.
