Elf smith techs appear in no upgrades mode ACCEPTED

I'm playing a no upgrades game. The creator choose elves and all upgrades. All of his elves have the techs of the elven smith.

Actually this feeds into my prior confusion. I'm in the same game, as humans, and am not getting​ any blacksmith upgrades applied. The elves are getting +2 to attack, +2 to range, +1 to armor, and +2 to pierce armor. Ai players as elves get the same bonuses, by the way, with or without upgrades enabled. It's actually too low to be the full bonus, since that would be +3 to attack and +3 to range.

I know why... Probably...

You buy only level 1 with gems and thus it is flagged as an upgrade (it is out of no upgrade games) while the other 2 have no real requirement of gems but they merely use the level 1 as a requirement for their research.

Since the game provide you any upgrade without a shopid they are provided even tough you couldn't research them in that kind of game.

Doy. You're​ absolutely correct. And that means levels 2 and 3 work, but not 1 for all techs games. It's probably the same on armor and melee attack, but I never checked. Now that we have an idea of what's going on, how do we fix it?

I assume that Daniel grant the AI all upgrades to give it a slight edge since it attacks randomly.

I told Daniel to add a flag in the jsons where we can define if a item sgould appear or not in no-upgrade games

I'm waiting for its answer

Well, if elf ai gets the blacksmith techs, can the human ones be applied to them too? It seems to actually make a better ai at least.

Agreed,because currently AI doesnt know blacksmith exists

Yeah. I'd also say it needs a higher weight toward unit upgrades. I've seen it does upgrade units, provided time with the appropriate building.

Well, we can add the elf dodge techs to the problem here. They get 20% dodge in all techs or as ai. Mind you, this confirms that the first level (which requires gems) isn't given, but levels 2 and 3 are.

It wouldn't be quite so bothersome if it gave either all the buffs, or else none of them but leave the option to research them. I've seen complaints that it makes elves op, but my opinion is that it destroys their potential overall by robbing them of their first level upgrades. It only helps early game, before you could have researched 2 levels yet.

But you can't research them in no upgrade mode. You should have 0% dodge and no smithing bonus. Having +2 range/damage extra armor and +20% all dodge is an incredible advantage in that mode and this is really game breaking.

Right. Sorry, I was thinking in all techs but allow upgrades. With no upgrade games, these shouldn't be allowed at all.
