Re: tech/spell(?): commune (elves) - IMPLEMENTED

The nature call tech for elves seems to work wonders when used on a map with animals, but there are a few issues I have noticed with it. 1. I know it will be fixed later, but animals aren't really present in many maps yet. 2. The automatic actions at turn end will have every archer in range shooting...

Re: balancing: axe thrower

The purpose of the trapper wouldn't just be an anti-flying unit. Though given its weaknesses I do envision it as a 2 cost, the ability to disarmor tougher enemies, keep cavalry stuck in one place, and poison or burn enemies for ongoing damage would allow orcs more strategy than they currently have. ...

Re: unit: dragon IMPLEMENTED

Ok. The elf dragon is much better without vanishing. now the choice is between cheaper eagles with less life and power or more expensive dragons with more life and power for elves, which leaves merit to both choices. I see your point that high health flying units may be an issue, particularly when o...

Re: unit: dwarven tunneler

Honestly, I think using tunnels as a method of destroying buildings may be more easily accomplished by giving the tunneler a spell to apply Vanishing 3 on the building and perhaps a curse effect on itself to show it is busy during that time. Neither should be removable by disenchant though. The tunn...

Re: Ancient ruins (of power)

The idea sounds fun. Even auras could work. I could see a good example of combining effects to be one with the healing aura from the elf wizard, the group attack aura from the orc leader, the fireball from human mage, and the convert spell from undead lich

Re: balancing: axe thrower

How about we instead give them say a goblin trapper, with a weak, 3 range poison attack and some debilitating spell like abilities, such as a net that would immobilize the target while removing flying based advantages for 1 or 2 turns, then give disarmor, plus a Molotov cocktail ability to inflict b...

Re: elf blacksmithing

A good level to playtest elves getting the human blacksmithing system is in the LOTR campaign, Helm's Deep, where you are given a slew of elf units and playing as humans and can build a blacksmith. Just adding 2 range and power to the archers drastically increases the damage output of all types of e...

Re: Structure - Tower (all races)

One idea for towers would be to have "guard" based towers that summon or build weaker units with a vanish counter. Could work in any race, but an example using existing creatures and abilities would be an elf building, wolf den, which has the druid ability to summon wolves, same vanish 3, as well as...

Re: elf blacksmithing

I agree on this topic, though I think orcs and undead need their own versions too. As it is, human upgrades can give them better archers than elves, and better swordsmen than orcs. I do imagine this will be provided during the natural progression of aof to its own game.

Re: unit: dragon IMPLEMENTED

I'm not sure the current setup for dragons is entirely that impressive. The elf dragon, for example, is not much more effective than eagles or even human ornithoptors, yet has a devastating vanishing 5 that means it will never amount to a severe threat, as only one is allowed per great tree, which c...
